Drusus, the only surviving son of Tiberius, became Caesar in AD 4. when Augustus adopted his father. Despite his supposedly violent temper, Drusus showed promise in political and military life; After the death of Augustus, he suppressed the mutiny of the Pannonian legions and was consul in AD 15. C. He was a successful governor in Illyricum between 17 and 20 AD. C. and became consul again upon his return to Rome.
