CLAUDIO (01/24/41-10/13/54)

CLAUDIO was born in 10 BC in Lyon.

He became emperor by chance after the assassination of Caligula in the year 41.

Despite his physical defects, he is a great emperor and a good administrator, but he remains dominated by his wives and his freedmen who hold the reality of power.

In the year 50, after marrying his niece Agrippina, he adopted his son Nero to the detriment of Britannicus, his own son born from the union with Messalina.

He is murdered by Agrippina who serves him a dish of poisoned mushrooms.
